It is the grilling season in the house. We tried out numerous recipes since we lit up the grill at the beginning of the summer, but this one is by far the easiest and tastiest.
The grilled sausage with onion recipe came from the Cooks Illustrated; however, the video version was a bit different from the written one. The steps (from the video version) were simple: microwave sliced onion seasoned with salt and pepper, throw it in a aluminum pan along with cut up red bell pepper and Italian sausages. Cook everything in the covered pan on the grill and then place sausage and pepper directly on the grill for pretty marks while leaving onions to cook further.
The result was surprisingly delicious with the sweet juicy taste of onion complimenting the spicy meatiness of the sausages. Our first try was good but not quite perfect. The sausage we got from a fancy grocery store were a bit dry, so we will have to check out a few specialty stores and make this recipe even better.
